My husband enjoyed two local beers and I ordered a glass of Zin but was told they only had white Zin so I ordered a Pinot Noir instead. Mac and Cheese was uninspired and peanut slaw (which our waitress said is the only slaw she eats) was heavy on vinegar with raw peanuts added. Pulled pork had a very sweet jarred variety sauce. Mashed potatoes had burned clumps throughout from obviously being scorched sitting in bainmarie. Chicken skin looked crisp but was rubbery. I opted for the roasted half chicken with mashed potatoes and mixed veg. My husband And I started by sharing a Caesar salad. We were taken to the dining room and given a booth under a drafty air conditioner. The game was on behind the bar which was full of people. Upon entering we were greeted warmly by waitstaff in football jerseys. After a day spent on a long country drive we swung off the Taconic to catch dinner. I have been wanting to check this place out for awhile now. Give them an hour or two at most and you are all set. The best part is you don't need to give advance notice 2 to 3 days before. So if you get a hankering for bbq and don't want to make it, I recommend giving these guys a call. Everything was cooked to perfection, the mac and cheese was hot, cole slaw cold and onion rings still had crunch when eaten. I got one big aluminum deep tray filled with pulled pork, tri-tip beef roast(sliced), 2 and 1/2 bbq chickens all cut into identifiable pieces (drumstick, thigh, breast and wing portions), and lastly was 2 and 1/2 racks of pork bbq baby ribs!!!! For sides there was macaroni and cheese, peanut cole slaw, and onion rings. Even though is was a snowy, icy day and most places weren't open or closing early, Fireside had my ord er ready at 2pm as promised and were very cordial to me. I got the take out meal that serves 8 - 10 people. The Tri Tip alone makes it worth the trip.Ok, so I usually come here for a meal but this time I actually ordered from the family take out menu. The Fireside BBQ & Grill is the only one that I circle the date on my calendar for. We dine out at least once a month, going to a variety of establishments. When we left, I asked my wife why we don't go to this place more often (we've been there 3 previous times), she said because if we went too often it wouldn't be as special a treat as it is for us we'd just take it for granted. I cannot say enough about the perfection to which the Fireside BBQ & Grill does their Tri Tip Tender, Juicy, Smokey Flavor, and even the sides (I opted for Baked Beans & Mac and Cheese, but most people rave about the Peanut Cole Slaw), and the portion sizes are just right - at least for a guy 6'1", 200lbs. If I was a death row inmate, the Tri Tip would be my last meal request. I would've ordered a full rack of these ribs except - I came for the TRI TIP!!! Okay, now you know - the TRI TIP IS TO DIE FOR. The meat was tender & juicy and fell off the bone. Food - it's a BBQ joint and what a BBQ joint it is!!! We started with the Babyback Rib Sampler. Atmosphere is comfy, cozy, down home friends & family. (I would've waited an hour if I had to.) Service was prompt and very friendly & courteous. She was almost exactly right - it was only about 15 minutes until we were seated. That being said, this place is excellent!!! Busy crowd on a Friday night. The problem with writing an excellent review for a place like this is that once everyone knows how great it is it creates a longer line to wait to get seated.
